2002 TEAM CRAMP REUNION RIDE & CHILI COOK-OFF RECAP

Mother Nature was good to us this year! The weather was perfect for the Golf Tournament, and Team Cramp fronted three teams this year. Headed by Mark Watson, players included Bill Hance, Bill Newkirk, Bill Evans, Ed Hixon (Team Cramp Golf Pro), Jack Huggins, and Jerry Massengale. As for the Reunion Ride, rain early in the week followed by some masterful dozer work by Team Cramp Dozermeister David Walkoviak primed the track for an excellent ride on Saturday! Crampers were out in full force and took advantage of the great track conditions and cool weather. The Team Cramp Poker Run was a great success, and the Poker Run Committee, manned by Randy Porter, Brad Whitworth, and J. R. Ott, did an outstanding job of organizing and setting up the ride. Winners received an excellent array of prizes donated by Randy Porter and Texas Metalwerks. Unfortunately, the Team Cramp Group Photo was not as successful. In keeping with tradition, we never got around to taking the picture. But really, we're going to do it next year! After the riding adventures, the Cook-Off entrants pulled out all stops and competition was tough! The 2002 Winners in the Chili Category were Jason Gooch (First State Bank of Bedias) (1st), Kristi Davis (Circle A Enterprises) (2nd), and Randy Porter (Team Cramp) (3rd); the Beans Category winners were Denise Upchurch (First State Bank of Bedias) (1st), Garvice Risinger (Madisonville) (2nd), and Gary Jennings (Team Cramp) (3rd); and in the Mystery Category, Dee Huggins (Omaha) with Gumbo Ya Ya (1st), Dru Phelps (Team Cramp) with Crawfish Etoufe (2nd) and Buddy Byrnes (Dallas) with Black Eyed Peas & Rice (3rd). (We'd also like to give an Honorable Mention to Gail Cain for her delicious potato salad!) The Best Dressed Tiara and Mink Coat went to the Team of Tim Akers, with his stunning fashion faux pas of polyester & gold chains, and Sister Kristi Davis, resplendent in her black robes & Flying Nun Regalia. Post Cook-Off Party: Festivities continued as Crampers retired to the Meadow. With a blazing bonfire setting the atmosphere, the kicked-up Team Cramp Bar was the center of activity. Team Cramp Barkeeps Mike Williams and Heidi Hottinger served up a delicious array of signature drinks, appetizers, and surprise spritzers! Sunday: Despite thumping heads, Kirk "Dough Boy" Spencer and Darren Porter upheld the Team Cramp Motto "Race With a Hangover" as they put on an awe-inspiring riding clinic that left watching Crampers dazed! Safety Report: Team Cramp Safety Advisor, Saundra Morris, reports that, regrettably, the 2002 Reunion Ride was not injury free. Michael Porter suffered a broken bone in his foot, but not before he showed us all how to master the motocross track. Dodge Ram Pickup from Dallas suffered a dented door after a close encounter with a trailer hitch. And, in the meadow on the morning after, numerous "head injuries" were reported.

As always, we had a great time! Thanks to everyone for coming out and making the 2002 Team Cramp Chili Cook-Off a great success!
